If you were here last winter, you know the quality of the highway maintenance (at least in terms of snow removal) was pathetic — and that may be too charitable. That was especially true of the part maintained by crews based in Ashton (which basically includes anything from Ashton to Harriman.)  Highway 20 was closed what seemed like about twice a week for several months due to accidents (mostly on federal hill.)  Federal hill was so slick and so treacherous that traffic seldom traveled faster than 30 miles an hour (except for our neighbors from Utah, who never slow down.)
But this year has been a complete different story. Both the northern and the southern sections of the highway have been kept clear almost all year. I don’t think we’ve had a road closure this year (unless they sneaked one in on me.) We’ve seen considerable black pavement (which never happened last year) and the plows have done an excellent job keeping things clear.
So, since I complained plenty last year, it’s only fair I give equal time when things are going well.
Well done snowplow crews!!!!!
DITTO! Thanks, Thanks,Thanks
You know I was “dreading” the winter here, because all I had heard before moving here, was how horrible last season was with an accumulated 30′ of snow…I have been very surprised and pleased with how everything has been “doable” this year! Except for a few of our ENTHUSIASTIC SLEDDERS, who have had a hard time slowing down, where they should…I have enjoyed the entire winter.
